Music For Dance Classes


In 1980 began working at London Contemporary Dance School (The Place) as an accompanist playing piano and percussion for contemporary and jazz classes, which led to composing music for student projects under teachers such as Robert Cohan, Jane Dudley, William Louther and Anthony Van Laast. Became Musical Director for the school’s touring project, London Contemporary Dance Experience, working with Robert Cohan. Alan has composed for youth dance companies with funds from the Arts Council. He has also composed music for Ludus Dance and Union Dance companies. Became a member of the National Youth Dance Panel.

Over the past three decades Alan has played for companies such as London Contemporary Dance Theatre, Rambert Dance Company, Adventures in Motion Pictures, New Adventures, Phoenix Dance Company, Richard Alston Dance Company, Union Dance Company and Janet Smith Dancers.

Alan Lisk has worked internationally, accompanying British Council-sponsored dance classes at Charles University in Prague and in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
